I was under the impression that an &quot;automatic&quot; watch was a mechanical watch with a rotor that winds the mainspring as it rotates around due to gravity.  I have a couple of Seiko Kinetic pieces that have a rotor, but the rotor charges a battery.  It doesn&#039;t make it an automatic, it makes it a rechargeable quartz watch.

I like the dynamics of wearing an auto-anything, watch.  Quartz and handwinds just kind of sit there, whereas the rotor movement transmits a bit back to the wrist due to inertia.</description>
