Omega Dynamic Setting Question
Just picked up this NOS Omega Dynamic… looks real, works well. I’m trying to set the day-date. Does anyone know how to do it? I pulled the crown out to a “third” position, which just spins. Not sure if I’m missing something?
UPDATE - So you actually pull the crown out all the way to flip the date. Very strange. Thanks, Ben.

John, I’ve got an old Seamaster Cosmic where you set the date by pulling the stem all the way out. It clicks the date ahead one. Pretty stupid (you feel like you’re tearing your watch apart), but maybe that’s it.

It’s also possible that the day/date setting on this watch needs repair. I have two Omega’s that have this feature and the only way to set the day of the week and day of the month is the turn the hands back and forth past 12. It’s tricky, but eventually you get the right combo. I’ve seen this problem even on NOS ones. A nice watch, BTW. Enjoy

i’m a newb and no horologist by any stretch… but i have a watch that i have to spin and spin to set the date (like, set the time 24 hrs ahead to get it to click the date over).
yes, it’s a cheapie, don’t know if fancier watches have better mechanisms for this because i can’t afford them!

mike,
that watch you have should have a second position. pull it out once to set the date, pull it out the rest of the way to set the time.

rockin, thanks! it didn’t exactly come with instructions, heh. i suppose i would have learned more about it, had i become involved with a”community.” but when i saw that what i am willing to pay (or afford) doesn’t even put me into most people’s “beater” category, it was a bit intimidating.
glad you found the answer to your question — and mine! many thanks again.

Glad to be of help, John. I’m kind of surprised it worked.
The pull-out setting is odd. In fact, when I had my Cosmic repaired (at the late lamented Question of Time on Thompson St.), the watchmaker couldn’t figure it out, either.

Yeah it’s an odd one. I’ve had one of these for years (date only model) - used to be my Dad’s. Always feels like I’m hurting the watch, pulling the stem out and popping back to advance the date. Oftentimes I just ignore the old date after it’s been “resting” at home, and just set the time. Nice example, though.

Hello. I have the exact same watch as the OP, even with the same dial colors. I’m having a huge problem setting the weekday (the date disc is working just fine, and I can set it right with no problems). The crown is generic (I’m contacting Omega for a genuine one as sooon as possible). Any comments?
