Here’s a great lume test of a Seiko, Ball diver, and Luminox Traser. Excellent work.

I’d been planning on selling a watch to a fellow in the UK — a watchuseek.com member, actually — and we decided to use DHL to send it. Big mistake. They lost the damn package and now I essentially have no recourse. Either ShipRite, in Bay Ridge Brooklyn, stole it or DHL dropped it in the sewer, but I’m pissed. I’ll never use them again.
Oh, to be an authorized dealer. This Gerald Genta jump hour is what Chad puts on to go to weddings.
You want to Fly under the radar but, hit the folks with something special, the class piece. My pick? Ahh yeah, understated and sweet, the Gerald Genta jump hour

One man asks the ultimate question: How can I hide my watches from my wife?
My wife has made a deal with me that allows me to purchase a watch every two years, my last watch I purchased was only a few months ago. I have been wanting to buy Sinn U1, oh so bad . Good thing is that I control the finances, so as far as her finding out about the purchase I could keep that a secret, but here are the problems, since it is a Sinn, I would have to purchase it through an online AD, and when using a credit card they will ship to billing address, but even if I get it delivered to another address, how do I put it into my collection without her finding out since my collection, is pretty out in the open, and of course she would find out if I was wearing the watch in her presence. Sometimes I wish I was single, and didn’t have to worry about the significant other getting on my case about my watch obsession.

If you want high design and low price, go with the S+arck Fossil line. They’ve been doing some great work lately and these odd cantilevered models look stunning. This and another model should be available in the Fall.

A Seiko&Citizen Forum poster has slammed this watch into the pavement, dives with reckless abandon, and treats this 1991 watch like a red-headed stepchild. The result? A cracked crystal and flawless operation on the original battery. Cute story.

Another great Watchismo find. This guy gets it all.
Found an interesting vintage mechanical Lucerne that could double as a terrarium. I’m sure there’s a geometric term for this shape but I must have skipped that day in high school. Similar to the Spaceman Audacieuse of the early seventies with it’s anglular space age styling, unsure which came first. Transparent viewing from the sides and top allow the sunlight to germinate your hour flowers.

OK. So I’ve been doing this for a little over three years now, on and off. I’ felt like I had a pretty good handle on things, that I was OK not owning a lot of high-end pieces, that everything would be fine. I’ve accepting that updating this blog is my stone of Sisyphus and that I’ll never be rid of it. OK. Feeling good.
So now I see that Watchismo — the best watch blog out there, hands down — won a Rolex Daytona. I’m really happy for him, but I can’t help thinking that I’m suffering for something I did in a past life. God? Are you there? God?
I don’t mean to brag, but it’s just really exciting. I won the grand (and only) prize in the Rolex Daytona Sweepstakes from Revolution Magazine. Part of their celebration and promotion of the US edition. It’s a great magazine documenting the actual revolution that’s occurring in modern horology
Anyway, congrats!

Want a hot complication? How about a full-grown mobile phone inside a package the size of a Panerai?
The M500 is a quadband GSM/GPRS phone with MP3 and MP4 playing functions. The cell phone watches will ship from Hong Kong. The final production version is a little more exciting than expected: improved battery life and Pop3 email and instant messaging support. The production line churns out a quarter million units a month. No change of price has been announced: $820 a pop.
