Blancpain L-Evolution Tourbillon Puts The Power Reserve On The Rotor

The Power Reserve Is Where? from HODINKEE on Vimeo.

SIt’s Basel time and a couple of our buddies are in Switzerland looking at fancy watches and reporting back on some of the coolest ones. For example, take a look at this L-Evolution Tourbillon by Blancpain. It’s an automatic watch with a twist: the power reserve is actually on the rotor, a feat (at least in watchmaking) akin to riding a horse backwards while juggling plates.

It’s obviously not a huge deal, but it’s a cool, quirky way of reading the power reserve in an industry that is, at best, resistant to change.
