Prometheus Recon 5 Is Back In Stock

1 Comment 30 September 2012

We’ve been fans of what Prometheus has been creating, especially with their tritium-based models.  Here, they’ve brought back their take on the classic Pilot watch, the Recon5.

For those not up on their history, the Pilot watch first hit the scene back in World War II, and was actually used by pilots.  These original models were made by a five different manufacturers that you might have heard of:  IWC, Stowa, Wempe, Laco and Lange & Söhne.

Of course, today, it seems just about every watch company has one of this style (if not more) in their lineup.  Using the originals as the starting point, Prometheus has designed a rather clean and clear dial layout (almost spartan, if you ask me).  You’ve got the classic hands showing up, as well as a sub-seconds dial over at 9 o’clock.

This is all powered by an ETA 6497-1 that has the additional nicety of some côtes de genève finishing, and is truly Swiss-made (built in the Jura mountains).  If you’re interested, you can get more information, as well as make a purchase, at their watch shop .

You may also want to have a look at what ABlogToRead had to say about the piece back in 2010 (link).
