So, yesterday’s post might have let some folks down who wanted an automatic to read about. And yes, Benthys does have automatics in the Benthic lineup (you can see those here). However, I’d like to point out another model that you can currently get at a similar price.
The piece in question is the 100 Fathoms. While it shares the basic color scheme with the Benthic we pointed out yesterday, that’s where the similarities end. Rather than a quartz movement, here we have an ETA 2824-2 (or a Sellita 26 jewel movement) tracking the time and standard date display.
The other big difference, of course, would be that here, the 41mm case (12.1mm thick) is made of steel, rather than titanium. Of course, being steel, you won’t mind that it has a nice PVD coating on it. Finally, the 22mm strap is a bit less exotic, but it is still a waterproof leather with deployant clasp (you also get a rubber strap with PVD buckle).
Tack on a 200m water resistance rating, and an AR-coated sapphire crystal, you’ve got yourself the makings of a really nice watch – and it’s a nice looking one, to boot. And, fortunately for the savvy watch-shopper, you can get this one (here) at a price of $695, which is $400 off of the original asking price. Nice little discount, no?
Now, I’ve never handled or owned a Bathys watch, so I can’t tell you much about construction or how it is in day to day life – if you have, though, be sure to let us know in the comments.
