Here in the ‘States, it’s a long holiday weekend known as Labor Day Weekend.  Rather than try to throw some half-baked articles at you, I decided instead to give you the gift of time.  In other words, we’re taking a break for the weekend, and we’ll be back to full speed on Tuesday, September 3rd.

Our friends over at Crown & Buckle have a great Labor Day sale going on – everything (yes everything) in their shop is 25% off. That means their already affordable prices for nice straps are even better.  No codes to use, just an across the board discount.

TokyoFlash Spins You Right Round

SONY DSC

No, no, not like a record, like a propeller.  At least, that’s what I think they’re getting at with their new Blade watch (no, this watch will not turn you into a daywalker either).  The Blade is through and through an aviation-inspired piece, something ala the Perrelet Turbine.  For the bargain-hunter, though, this watch is a good deal more affordable than the Perrelet. Molarity Watch Group Deep Diver Review

Posted on 29 August 2013 by Patrick Kansa

Molarity-Watch-Group-Deep-Diver (3)

It”s been a year and a half since we reviewed the Vintage from the folks at Molarity Watch Group (seen here), which I concluded was a little bit of a mixed bag (dug the styling, but it had some faults).  Well, in those intervening months, new models have been released, and today we”ll be taking a look at their Deep Diver. Our inveterate crowd-funding surfer, Matt Himmelstein, is back with another rather interesting project for your consideration.  Rather than a watch you strap to your wrist, this is one that slips onto a finger. Read on to see what he found! Continue Reading

Only A Few Remaining Signalman DLC Remain

Posted on 27 August 2013 by Patrick Kansa

Schofield-Signalman-DLC-No-Strap

We just received word from our friends at Schofield that they’ve only got 10 pieces left of the 100 examples they made of the DLC Signalman.  In other words, if you’re thinking about getting one, it’s time to get off the fence and get your order in before they’re all gone.

You can check out all the specs here, as well as place your order (at today’s exchange rates, it comes out to about $5,250 plus shipping).  You can also check out a full, hands-on review done by James Stacey over at aBlogtoWatch right here.

Review: Girard-Perregaux Chrono Hawk

Posted on 26 August 2013 by John Biggs

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Girard-Perregaux, to those not familiar with watch lore, is a watchmaker founded in 1791 and that now produces handmade, manufacture pieces in the mid- to high-level range. I”ve been a longtime fan of the brand – they usually come up with designs that are timeless and more classic than, say, Concord, and less fuddy-duddy than IWC and other traditional makers. The watch we”re looking at today, the Chrono Hawk, is G-P”s lower-end addition to their catalog (if “lower end” and G-P can ever appear in the same sentence.)
