Devon Goes for the Gold

The Devon Tread watch was one of the first of the way out there modern watches that I found absolutely fascinating and drool worthy.  The First Tread was a modern engineering marvel, ready to be worn by captains of industry and political movers and shakers, but it also had an ascetic that would feel at home on the wrist of a steam-punk enthusiast.

Devon followed that watch up with the Tread 2, a more conventional design with the same overall wow factor, at least for an engineering geek like me.  Gone were the four belts crossing on the diagonal, and instead there was a clean design with two belts.  Devon kept the same skeleton style of the watch, with the movement displayed behind large sapphire crystals front and back, but moved to a more conventional tonneau style case.

Tread 2 Shining

In advance of Baselworld 2014, Devon is issuing the Tread 2G, a slightly smaller Tread 2 in 18K gold.  As with the Tread and Tread 2, the watch is powered by an induction charged lithium polymer battery mechanism housed in a case rated to 10M.  The case for the watch is solid 18K gold, as are the stem, motor covers, adjustment plates, indicator plate, case back, screws, bracelet and clasp.  More details should be out when the watch has its official unveiling at Baselworld.  Along with the gold version, Tread will also premier the Tread 2 Ghost (below) in ceramic and titanium.
