Some of My Collection for Sale

Filed under: Deals — John Biggs @ 12:27 pm

Two pieces from my extended collection are for sale, $100 each, shipped. First, you have the Sorna Bullhead Chrono - manual wind - which I reviewed here. It’s in perfect condition on a black leather band.

Then we have an automatic Zodiac GMT in fair condition. It’s a bit aged but runs well and all of the features - date window and GMT hand - work perfectly. The case is a bit worse for wear, but it’s a vintage, working GMT at a bargain price.

If you’re interested, drop me a line at john at wristwatchreview dot com. If I don’t have any takers by the end of the week I’ll eBay these, but I wanted to give you guys a chance to pick them up.

Help Me Clean Out My Watch Case

Filed under: Deals, General — John Biggs @ 11:30 am

IMG_2182.JPG

I’m cleaning out my “good” watch case and have a few pieces I’d like to sell. First up, we have this very nice Seiko 6309 chronograph. This was in the the Seiko repair center last year and works beautifully. One major scratch on the plastic crystal that I didn’t buff out and I’ll include the spring bars for this one. I took off the NATO strap that I wore with it because it was kind of ratty, but you can get a new one at WatchUSeek. $150 shipped for a working and very handsome chrono.

NB - Email john at wristwatchreview dot com if you’re interested.

I hate myself for doing this, but people are silly and they’ll do anything, so here’s a link to the Tauchmeister sale page. Are these watches any good? Not specifically, but they’re cheap and they’re all on sale so you don’t have to fight a bunch of n00bs on Ebay. Purchase with the caveat that you’re buying for looks, not build quality, and be happy.

Review: The Riedenschild DarkSeaDiver

Ernie at WatchUSeek is selling these things for about $205. I’m thinking of picking one up. The top crown locks down to hide the bezel adjustment and the style, reminiscent of the canteen divers of yore, is pretty hot.

First, I have to say that this watch is much nicer-looking than I ever expected it to be and seems very solidly built. The case is large, thick, and heavy and is finished very nicely with the top surfaces having a brushed finish with the sides and back being mirror polished. I mean mirror polished too! You could shave looking into the shine of this watch

Watches in Tokyo

Filed under: Deals, Fun, General — John Biggs @ 6:26 pm

WatchRapper Ron posts about a Japanese watch shopping trip. Very informative.

On the same street as the Journe boutique is the Omega boutique, which I must admit was something of a let-down. A good selection of models, although perhaps not as impressive as I was hoping for, but after my experience with the Journe staff, going back to regular watch retail was a bit jarring. They had on show a platinum rattrapante chrono, which was impressive, a number of Museum Collection models (which I have never seen) as well as the new Broad Arrow GMT, which I have to say was incredibly thick with a very loud dial.
