While a vast majority of the watches I’ve own or reviewed feature a dial that color, I do find myself drawn now and again to watches with bright white dials, especially as the weather turns warmer.

The model in question that grabbed my eye today is the Bulova Marine Star (specifically, model 96B125).  While the dial itself is primarily white, you do get some slashes of red and black subtly mixed in.  Coloration aside, this watch also nets you the following:

  • 44mm (11mm thick) Stainless steel or titanium case and 22mm bracelet
  • Quartz movement with date display and GMT hand
  • Mineral crystal
  • 30m water resistance

As you can tell, you’ve got two different materials you can pick this watch up in.  Where I found it on Amazon, it’s actually being offered in titanium.  Along with being lightweight, I feel this really further softens the look of the watch.   Of course, you’ll have a tradeoff here, as titanium scratches up pretty easily, if memory serves.

So, why the white dial?  For warm weather, it just feels right. You’re generally wearing light colored clothing, so why shouldn’t your watch follow suit?  And hey, if you’re riding a desk most of the day, that bright white dial might just help you not look so much like a ghost, in comparison.  You can find the titanium version on Amazon for $165.  For the features you get (titanium, GMT hand, clean lines), the price feels right for this quartz piece.
