Christopher Ward C65 01

Both Patrick and I are fans of Christopher Ward.  And we both like dive watches.  But as a diver, I see the days of needing a dive watch as long gone.  But the ruggedness of a dive watch, that is something which should stick around.  And if you take that ruggedness, and tone it down so it works as a true business watch, then you have a nice product for the real world.  Which brings me to the Christopher Ward C65 Trident Classic, available as a pre-order right now.

As with all Christopher Ward watches, you are getting a Swiss made product at direct-to-you pricing.  The Trident line is CW’s dive watch group, and the new watch shares some of that DNA, including the titular trident on the second hand and the wave guilloche pattern on the dial.  The case style is also the same, with a crown protector and integrated lugs in the solid 42mm brushed stainless case.  You even get 150m water resistance.  What you do lose with the C65 is the rotating bezel, which makes the watch much more at home paired with a suit and tie, or even for a night out someplace with tablecloths (not the red and white checkerboard ones).

Inside the watch beats a Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement, something that CW has moved toward with the limited available stock on ETAs.  On the front is a 4mm sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating and the back has the stamped trident design with an engraved serial number.  The raised nickle indexes and hands are coated in superlume for low light.  The watch is offered with either a white or black dial and comes on a brown or black alligator pattern leather strap for $685 or stainless steel bracelet for $755.   The leather strap has the new Bader Buckle variation on the butterfly clasp. christopherward-usa.com
