They say good things come to those who wait and never has that been more true than when it comes to the latest designs by Glashütte Original. Founded in Glashütte in Germany over 175 years ago thanks to financial support by the government, they have gone on to become one of the most recognized names in the watch industry and are world renowned for the exquisite timepieces. Today, we’ll cover their latest designs: the SeaQ Panorama Date, Lady Serenade and the Panomatic Lunar.

As is custom, ladies first so I’ll start with the Lady Serenade, which is simply age defining. This is not a watch, this is a true investment that – like a fine wine – gets better with age. The Lady Serenade comes in a variety of finishes, each one more exceptional then the next. I have chosen to focus on the 36mm rose gold which comes on a genuine brown calf leather strap with a choice of pin buckle or fold over clasp finished in rose gold. As you’d expect, the dial is a real showstopper, featuring a stunning mother of pearl dial that shimmers brightly no matter the setting. The six o’clock position is where you will find the black date window on eye catching white background. Moving on to the bezel, you have the option to add that little something extra to your timepiece, with options to add brilliant cut diamonds to accompany the diamond cut crown if you so wish. Along with sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating front and back this piece really is on another level of luxury. Powering Lady Serenade is an in-house automatic movement with swan neck adjustment along with over 25 jewels to ensure your watch runs as smooth silk.

Next we have the SeaQ Panorama Date, which is – as the name suggests – a dive watch. It features a choice of a synthetic grey strap or a black rubber strap. In my opinion, the latter is the best option for those who plan and putting the SeaQ through its paces. This is no ordinary dive watch and I’m going to tell you why. I’ll start with what I feel is most important part of any dive watch, the case. This is were Glashütte have truly excelled themselves. It features a stainless steel case, a red gold bezel with a black scratch resistant ceramic inlay along, and a gold-plated screw down crown. Throw in the centrally-screwed sapphire case back and all that’s left for you to worry about is where your next dive will be.

The 43mm grey galvanized sunray dial features your date window with white numerals on a grey galvanized background at the 3 o clock position, along with gold plated applied numerals, indexes and hands all featuring Super-Luminova. Add in the luminous marking on the chapter ring making and 300 meters of water resistance, and you’ve a watch that is more than capable of handling anything a diver would throw at it. You’d expect the movement of the SeaQ to be slightly different to the norm and this is where Glashutte’s inhouse manufacturing team produce the goods once again. The automatic in-house movement is actually anchored in place to provide shock resistance along with the silicon balanced spring to insure your 100 hours of power reserve are both precise and reliable above – and below – the water.

Finally, we have the Panomatic Lunar. Honestly, this one is more like a piece of art created by a world renowned artist than a watch. Hyperbole aside, this is the most breath-taking dial I have ever seen on a watch. It features a rich handcrafted green dial at its core, not dissimilar to a perfectly cut emerald, that fades to black tones around its edges. The unusual but also beautiful feature on the dial is its off-centre gold plated hour and minute hand and ever present small second display all to the left of the dial. On the right hand side is a touch of magic by Glashütte with their characteristic panorama date and truly exquisite star studded night sky moon phase with a convex polished moon. All of this is encompassed in sapphire crystal with a red gold case and crown that is polished to perfection. All of this contributes to an appearance of both class and warmth. Powering this masterpiece is an in-house automatic calibre 90-02 with an off-center rotor and their signature swan neck fine adjustment , all of which can be admired can be admired the scratch resistant sapphire crystal case back.

Glashütte Original are in my opinion top of the watch game in terms of what they offer, a big statement to make I know given the standard of competition at Luxury end of watches, but one I stand by. While I can only dream of ever owning one of these truly remarkable pieces that won’t stop me admiring them. For the three shown here, pricing ranges from  $17,700 to $24,900. glashuette-original.com
