It’s been awhile since I’ve taken a peek at an open heart (or skeleton) watch, so today’s the day to have a look at one that will put a dent in your wallet (unless you search around, that is.  More on that later).

The watch in question is the Croton CN307289BLSK, which is part of their Circuit Breaker family of watches.  I’ll admit – this one is just on the verge of being too unreadable (in terms of the missing amount of dial), but it still somehow drew me in.

It was, in large part, due to being able to see the Japanese automatic movement.  Of course, the luminous blue markers and indicators certainly didn’t harm my impression, either.  The 46mm stainless steel case is definitely on the larger side; it combines with the mineral crystal to offer up 50m of water resistance.

All in all, another interesting variation in the skeleton watch segment.  What of the price, you say?  Well, if you go to Croton’s site, you’ll see that they list an MSRP of $750 (yee-ouch!), which in my estimation is way too much to be paying for a watch with so many unknowns about the movement and the brand.

Of course, if you search the web for even the tiniest bit, you’ll see that this watch could be had for a much more affordable $85 over at Overstock.  Why the reduction?  Well, certainly part of it has to do with the site selling it.

Part of me has to wonder if this isn’t like so many of the brands that tag their pieces with crazy MSRPs, and then we find them at retail for 50-80% less.  I can’t say for sure, having not seen a Croton in person.  If you have some experience with the brand, let us know!
