In honor of our fighting men and women watchmaker Blancier has created an affordable and fairly handsome quartz chrono called the Desert Wold. At $395 it’s a rugged and well-priced piece and it features a matte steel body, double-sided anti-reflective crystal, and Super-LumiNova pips and hands.

I have one here in my hot little hands so I’ll be reviewing it over the next few days but until then take a gander and see if it’s right for the solider(s) in your life.

Blancier Develops A Special Military Watch For American Troops

Amsterdam The Netherlands May 10, 2011

Today watchmaker Blancier introduced a unique and very special Military Chronograph watch for the American market. The Official Desert Watch has been given the code name Desert Wolf. Blancier developed this unique, sturdy watch for American troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. This chronograph can be worn during deployments and it honors the struggle of America’s fighting forces overseas.

Willem Kamerman, the Dutch founder of Blancier and creator of this military watch, says, “I wanted to design something special for the men and women who are deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan under ISAF, because they deserve our support and respect.”

Iraq and Afghanistan as a source of inspiration

The image on Desert Wolf watch dial is of the mountainous region in that area, done in a camouflage style. Coordinates are printed between the number 12 and the center point. This chronograph, intended to show support for our troops, is an original and sturdy military watch that makes a perfect watch for soldiers – and supporters – at home or in country.

Ultra-thick double-sided non-reflecting sapphire glass

The design of the casing, in matte black steel, is a rounded square. It is particularly comfortable to wear for active outdoor use because the watch’s crown and chrono-pushers are placed at the top of the casing rather than in the usual place at the side. Underneath the Blancier Desert Wolf’s ultra-thick double-sided non-reflecting sapphire glass, the dial uses orange photoluminescent Super-LumiNova© numbers by the Swiss company TRITEC.

Blancier is also supporting the The Fisher House program with this project

Blancier greatly admires the The Fisher House program. That’s why Blancier is supporting the activities of this organization with a donation of USD 10.- for every Desert Wolf Chronograph ordered. http://www.fisherhouse.org/
