While we can sometimes get all wrapped up in the tiny details of what makes a watch interesting, there is certainly something to be said about the good ol’ classic digital watch. I think Casio would agree, and they’ve released an updated “classic” design, this time around in rose gold.

What watch is it? That would be the Casio B640WMR-5AVT. Rolls off the tongue, doesn’t it? I think I’ll call it the Casio Classic Rosie. To be perfectly clear, this is not made from rose gold, but instead has that hue through-and-through, from the case and the milanese bracelet. Even the LCD display looks like it’s got a colored film applied there to pink it up a bit.

In terms of functionality, it’s your classic Casio – you’ve got day, date, and time, alarm, backlighting, and a 1/100 second stopwatch that can time for up to 100 hours (4 days – can your hand-wound chrono do that?). Wrapped in a 50m WR rated package, it’s a watch that should handle life, and in this rosy tone, I think it’s well-set for warmer weather. Who’s it for? Well, anyone who wants a solid watch that sticks to the basics, and comes in this hue.

In other words, this is probably a watch I’d consider for my daughter who’s favorite color is pink. This $69.95 watch, with it’s milanese mesh bracelet, is a tidy way to get a younger watch wearer into something that looks a bit more mature (the bracelet, you see) or for the more experienced owner to have something simple, clean, and bright. casio.com
