An excellent review by Alex on TimeZone of a sub-$1000 chrono. I love the red hands.
Dial: This is the interesting part of the watch. I haven???t seen a black dial chronograph watch with all red color writings and hands. Since Glycine names this watch model as Combat Chronograph, I guess the red-on-black color scheme matches its name well, and it looks cool.
The Combat Chronograph also came in other color dials, but in my opinion the red/black dial is the coolest looking one.
There is a Tachymeter on the inside ring of the bezel. It creates a deep and sporty bezel appearance, another nice touch.

Looks like Glycine is updating their Combat line with new movements and looks. I like the Combat line – Glycine knows how to make neon faces and they look incredible. The Airman is their most popular watch so these are considerably less expensive and tres cool.
The COMBAT 07 Automatic looks every inch a classic and embodies everything that a functional quality watch should be “and nothing more, quite consciously,” says Katherina Brechbühler. The lines of the new automatic COMBAT are clean in every respect, from the casing to the dial and the hands. The ergonomics have improved over those of its predecessor, which is why the watch fits the wrist even better. The COMBAT 07 Automatic is fitted with the ETA 2824 movement, which can be seen through the glass back, has a scratch-resistant sapphire glass and is waterproof up to 50 metres. It is available with three different dials: black/orange, white/grey and blue/orange, and with a leather strap or metal bracelet. Despite its top quality, this mechanical watch is extremely
Mmm… what is it about this color that just does me in? Gotta get me one of these.
I had been meaning to talk about this re-edition. It’s an 24-hour Airman – one of Glycine’s only real “hits” – with a nice orange bezel. Amazing? Nah. Nice? Sure.
This watch features this orange 24-hour bezel. Also available in black or blue. The movement is based on an ETA 2893-2 movement, which is a 2892 based movement with GMT (extra timezone) feature. The diameter of the watch is a stunning 44 mm and is water resistant to 200 metres. Buyer can choose between a leather strap or a stainless steel bracelet. Prices vary between 1600 and 1800 Swiss francs.
From my collection: a quartz Glycine Airman GMT 2000 circa 1980. Perfect condition. Nice lume. Rarely worn. $200 or trade. Email me at john at wristwatchreview dot com.
Please consider picking this up. I’d prefer one of you guys to have it than sell it on eBay.
