It is no secret that one way to really change up the feel of a watch is to swap out the strap. I have changed one leather strap for another on some watches, and I have gone to nylon NATO as well, but I had not tried out a waxed cotton canvass product like the Suigeneric Straps. Well, I may be late to the party, but I am here now.
Welcome to Watching the Web, our weekly look around the internet for interesting watch related articles and news, and our chance to highlight our most popular recent posts. This week, there is the Antoine Preziuso Tourbillon of Tourbillons, MAT Watches, and the Porsche Design Chronometer Series 1. From our our site, the Ball Watch Night Train, a look at replacement straps, and the Melbourne Watch Co. Carlton were the watch articles that captured the most views.
Mom has had her day, and my birthday has come and gone, but it is not too early to start thinking about gifts for dads, and since it is late spring, gifts for grads as well. In this Fathers Day gift guide, I am going to point out some of my favorite watches and accessories that have crossed our (real or virtual) desks over the last few months, organized by price.
Earlier this year I was attending an alumni event and the conversation subject matter turned to watches (how I turned it there I don’t recall). One of the group asked what I would recommend for her to get her boyfriend as a gift. My first question was how much money she wanted to spend. When she said roughly $1,000, I immediately recommended a Weiss. This question got me thinking about how I could organize the 2015 holiday gift guide. So for this iteration, I will recommend my favorite watch (or watch related gift) in each of several price ranges. Chances are, if I like it, especially if it under about $1,500, we have covered it in the past, since that is the kind of people we are; but there may be watches here (especially at the higher end) that have not graced our pages.
Today marks the day four years ago when I started off on this watch reviewing journey here at WWR, and I like to give back to you, our readers, when that occasion hits. So, to that end, I am going to run a quick flash giveaway – just for today – for the Suigeneric straps we reviewed a bit back.
When the weather starts getting warmer, attention it turned to changing out parts of our wardrobe that simply do not work for the weather. For instance, the heavy wool sweaters get tucked away for the season, and we instead start breaking out the short sleeves and shorts. For many of us, that attention also turns to our watches. Swapping out heavier leather and steel for something else can get your watch and wrist ready for summer. To that end, we have a few options new this year from Suigeneric and Crown & Buckle.
