The UK-based
Christopher Ward has just announced the C8 UTC Worldtimer, a new GMT watch in their C8 Flyer Collection. This sexy little monster comes with a ETA 2893-2 movement with GMT complication and offers just enough modern styling to make this a unique entrant in the travel watch space.

The piece will cost $1,200 when it ships in October but you can pre-order now.

The watch even has a design story, which is imperative for all good online-only brands. Quoth CW:

?This design inspiration comes from Christopher Ward’s C8 Flyer Collection, which references the Smith’s Mark II A clock used in Spitfires during World War II. Each C8 also carries an engraving of the historic aviation wind tunnels in Farnborough where the aerodynamics of iconic aircraft like the Spitfire and Concorde were perfected. The crown too makes strong reference to the wind tunnel turbines.

It’s a 44mm watch with Superluminova on the hands and a great 3D dial. It also has an internal bezel for setting the current timezone. I personally really like the tan model but I wouldn’t kick the black and white out of bed for eating crackers. All in all this is the first Christopher Ward that I actually like and I’d be really interested in seeing this fellow up close. We’ll report back when we can grab a hands-on.
