Well, I surely didn’t, at least until I started looking around for topics to write about. This may bring together some of my favorite attributes in a single watch – bronze case, great lume, and an automatic movement.
The model in question is the M53 Bronze, and it’s similar to others in the M line – with the biggest exception to that being the CuSn8 case, which should develop a wonderful patina over time. This watch also has some great vintage feel to it. The dial and hands are black, and on top of that, you have 8 layers of their vintage lume.
This means two things – one, you’ve got an almost aged look to the lume right of the bat. Second, with eight layers, you’re going to have a nice glow coming from your wrist when it gets dark.
And though it comes with a rubber strap (24/22mm), I think the watch will look best when paired with the included leather strap (also 24/22mm). Oh, and speaking of looks, have a look at the date display – color matched to the dial, nice!
Of course, a watch can’t just be all about looks to hold out interest, right? Well, inside that 44mm case, you’ve got a Japanese automatic movement (Miyota?), and on top of it you have a sapphire crystal with AR coating on both sides. Around back, you’ve got a steel case back that has its own sapphire window; and to the side, the crown screws down, helping to net a 300m water resistance rating.
