Frederique Constant Slimline Moonphase, One for the ladies

Frederique Constant Slimline Moonphase 01For whatever reason (maybe it is because Patrick, John and I are all guys?) we don’t cover a lot of women’s watches here on WWR.  For my part, I see a fair number of watches that would qualify as unisex, and most of the women I know (including my wife) tend prefer larger watches, not 50mm big, but at least around 40mm.  But if you want something smaller, and with some high end materials (and a high end price tag), then the Frederique Constant Slimline Moonphase might be the ticket (Christmas is just around the corner…). Frederique Constant Slimline Moonphase 02The watch comes in six versions, all 30mm with a petite 7.7mm profile.  To get that size, they use an in-house quartz movement with a moonphase complication (I am not going to make any sort of a joke about this complication.  Nope, not going to do it.).  The watch features a variety of luxury materials, including a mother of pearl dial and diamonds for the1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, and 11:00 hours across the six versions of the watch.  There are also options for a leather strap or case-matching bracelet with your choice of a stainless steel case, a gold plated stainless case, or stainless case with a diamond bezel.  The watch is rated to 3 ATM, so be careful around water if you want to wear this with a “trash the dress” photo shoot.

Frederique Constant Slimline Moonphase 03I think the watch is attractive and readable, and while mother of pearl is overused in my opinion to dress up a woman’s watch, there are people who will like it a lot, along with the diamonds or the gold plating.  At a little over $1,000 to a little under $3,000, depending on the options, it is certainly not inexpensive, but it is not overly expensive either.  It is not my wife’s style, but I could see it an an anniversary or birthday gift for the right special woman in your life, or as a treat for yourself if you are woman reading this review.

 Watch Overview

  • Brand & Model: Fredrique Constant Slimline Moonphase
  • Price: $1,150 to $2,895
  • Who we think it might be for: A lady in need of a nice dress watch.
  • Would I buy or recommend it just on the photos?:  It isn’t my wife’s style.
  • If I could make one design suggestion, it would be: Not every lady’s watch needs a mother of pearl dial.
  • What spoke to me the most about this watch:  The moonphase complication.

Thank you for reading this WristWatchReview post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.

WristWatchReview is one of the few remaining truly independent watch news outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent watch sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis. We don't play the games the other sites play and we've paid for it when it comes to ad revenue.

We would love for you to support us on Patreon and every little bit helps. Thank you.
