It’s one thing to build a custom watch, either with a watchmaker or from some of the websites that we’ve covered here in the past.  But did you ever find yourself wishing that you had some way to make the watch well and truly yours, and no one elses?  Then, gentle reader, have we got the solution for you.

To be truthful, it’s actually the folks at My Own Fingerprint that have the solution for you.  As you might guess, you’ll end up with a timepiece that has your actual fingerprint on the dial.

This unique idea came from the mind of Erika Di Palma, who is an actual Crime Scene Investigator, so has dealt with fingerprint collection for some time.  Her love for the uniqueness of the prints has now extended to this new brand, and the chance for you to truly customize a watch.

The fingerprint collection is fairly simple.  First, you need to make sure your hands are clean and dry.  Past that, you need to figure out which finger you’ll print.  Once you’ve made your selection, you ink your finger using the included ink pad, and then place your stamp onto the collection card.

With the collection card, you’ve got plenty of spots to stamp, so you can do it as many times as you want until you’re satisfied with the results.  You mark the one you want used, and then send it off to MOF.  They’ll in turn use this to create the watch (or other item) of your choosing.  Oh, and that print stays on file for one month (in case you want to order something else), and then it’s destroyed.

And wow, I had a lot more to say about the creation of the piece than I figured I would.  We’ll leave things here for now; tomorrow, we’ll do the review on the actual watch we received.
