Back in August I reviewed the 46mm Wryst Element which you can see here. I have always loved the look of the Wryst watches and, after wearing that Element, I was very impressed on how good it felt on my wrist. I do have a small wrist so that Element on me was perfect but for those who desire a larger version there is the Wryst Force SX230. Lets check out this big Wryst.
The Dial
The blue sun burst dial on the Wryst Force SX230 looks great, particularly in the sun. The dial is clean and well balanced, with nicely polished hour makers that look great against that blue dial. I do like that they used hour marker bars rather than numbers here, as ir makes the dial a little less busy looking. You have the expected handsets here, along with the various sundials necessary – chronograph sub-seconds at the 12 o’clock position, regular seconds at the 6 o’clock position, and chronograph minutes at the 9 o’clock. There is also a date window at the 3 o’clock. I do like that they did the date wheel in black. Powering all these little hands is a Swiss quartz chronograph Ronda 3540D.
The case
The case on the Wryst Force SX230 is made from 516L stainless steel. The case is 50mm wide which would be huge for most watches. In this case, it really does not look or feel that huge. It fit well on my wrist (though I would still prefer the 46mm Element or other models at that smaller size). The case is curved both on top and on the bottom. The curved 2mm thick domed sapphire crystal with AR coating very modern look to it that is sure to draw attention from anyone who glances upon it. When you strap this on to your wrist the case back conforms perfectly. The sides of the case protrude out each side which partially hides the screw down crown and chronograph pushers. Aside from giving it a cool modern look it also gives a much more balanced look. Water resistance on the Wrsyt Force is a decent 100 meters. Since this is not made for going under water that’s just fine.
The Straps
The Wryst Force SX230 comes with two silicone straps. There is the black and blue which is my favorite, and then there is the white and blue. Both are very soft and smooth and, unlike many silicone straps, they are not lint magnets. These straps on that curved case make for a very comfortable fit. They fit so well you will hardly notice it on the wrist. Since this watch does cater to the larger wrist crowd, I found I had to use the last hole on that strap and it was barely tight enough.The clasp on this is a standard pin and buckle signed clasp with lots of holes to fit any wrist.
Overall Impression
I really like the design of these Wryst watches. Their unique case shape and comfortable straps make for great daily wear watch that is sure to get lots of attention. This size is a bit too much for me but they are sure appeal to those with larger wrists or just wanting a lot of watch on their wrist. Even at that larger size its still a fantastic fit.
