The H. Moser & Cie Swiss Alps Final Upgrade is the most recent update to their Apple Watch parody. The watch, through it’s various versions, maintains the Apple Watch size, shape, and feel of an Apple Watch, without pesky things like notifications or charging.

The H. Moser & Cie (“Moser”) Swiss Alps Final Upgrade takes the Apple Watch form factor, and instead uses a mechanical movement that Moser make themselves.

In past iterations, there was a minute repeater tourbillion movement with no hands at all on the face, so you told the time by the chimes of the minutes and hours.

Here, the dial is painted in Vantablack, which absorbs almost all the light. The dial face is cut with with 12 rounded rectangles, in the shape of the progress spinner that Apple used prior to macOS Big Sur and iOS 14. (The new progress spinner uses 8 rather than 12.)

The seconds hand is a disc painted with gradients, so the rectangles appear to mark progress as the disc rotates underneath it.

The H. Moser & Cie Swiss Alps Final Upgrade is fantastic. It’s absurd, tasteful, and trolls Apple all at once, showing the sense of humor we’ve come to expect from Moser. And it costs $30,800 dollars.
