We all know Swatch watches – the classic, core line – as those colorful, plastic watches that get the job done (of telling time) while bringing hits of color to the wrist. Their latest release is a collection of six watches in collaboration with the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) that brings classic art to your wrist.

I mean, short of doing something very illegal (and culturally destructive) this is the best – if not only – way to get some of this art onto your wrist. For this collaboration, six pieces were selected from MoMA’s collection for embodiment into the classic Swatch watch profile:

  • The Starry Night (1889) by Vincent van Gogh
  • Hope, II (1907-1908) by Gustav Klimt
  • The Dream (1910) by Henri Rousseau
  • Composition in Oval with Color Planes 1 (1914) by Piet Mondrian
  • The City and DesignThe Wonders of Life on EarthIsamu Kurita (1966) by Tadanori Yokoo
  • New York (1968) by Tadanori Yokoo

The watches come in two sizes. The smaller watch (designated as M) comes in at $80 and measures 34mm x 8.75mm , and the L piece is $100 and measures in at 41mm x 9.85mm thick. If you go to the Swatch site, it looks like you can only get certain designs in one size or the other, but over at the MoMA shop, you can pick the design you want in either size (and members get a bit of a discount as well). So, go ahead and pick your favorite (Starry Night, right?) and proudly show it on your wrist. swatch.com
