To be perfectly fair, this is not the first time we’ve seen the Bulova Oceanographer “Devil Diver” come back onto the old retail shelf. As a matter of fact, we reviewed a prior version back in 2018 (seen here). So, what makes this version different?
For starters, this edition of the Bulova Oceanographer “Devil Diver” has a much more toolwatch look to it. Gone are the polished surfaces and bracelet, and instead we’ve got a bead-blasted finish on the case and a rubber strap paired in. The case has also been shrunk down (from 44mm to 41mm), bringing it a bit more inline with the original, though case height is about the same.
Perky thing, those case heights – they’re constrained by an automatic movement (and the room for the rotor), as well as the WR rating being gone for. In this case, it’s 200m, which is how the Bulova Oceanographer “Devil Diver” got it’s name (200m corresponds to 666 ft). So, if you’re looking for something more like the original, along with a bright orange pop of color (great for the grey winter), you can pick it up from Bulova for $750.
