I have long had a fascination with watches that can sync themselves with signals (be it from land-based atomic clock radios, as my own watch does) or those that sync to the heavens (and GPS satellites) to keep themselves accurate – especially if they can power up via light. In other words, a watch that’s always accurate and always running. The Citizen Super Titanium Satellite Wave GPS has all of that – and just a bit more.

The real story here, for the Citizen Super Titanium Satellite Wave GPS, is that titanium case. Though 48mm, it’s likely a bit of a lightweight, while still managing to protect all of the precious cargo hiding inside of it. And frankly, if you’re dropping $5,000 on a watch, you don’t want to have to baby the thing. Now, sure, my sub-$300 solar atomic G-Shock can do everything this watch can (just about) – but it is a steel-and-rubber build, which could look out of place in certain scenarios.

The Citizen Super Titanium Satellite Wave GPS, on the other hand, looks like it’s meant for a life of jet-setting and black-tie dinners. And, should that be where you’d be putting it into use, you’re not likely to run into another one, as only 550 pieces are going to be made. In black-and-gold tones, this looks to be a fitting commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Citizen bringing Super Titanium to it’s lineup. All of the specs are down below, and you can of course order up one of your own directly from citizenwatch.com
