Much as with another small brand I wrote about recently, we had a bit of a drought when it came to coverage regarding Obris Morgan.  When news came out about their latest release – the Obris Morgan Aegis II – I knew it was something we would definitely be covering.

As you might surmise from the II in the name, the Obris Morgan Aegis II is the second version of their Aegis watch.  While I cannot speak to the original, I do know that I liked the looks of the Obris Morgan Aegis II right from the get-go.  The dial is crisp and clean (and has that Rolex-style triangle up at 12 o’clock), plenty of lume (including a bit on the bezel insert), and a solid tool-watch look to it.

The 42mm case of the Obris Morgan Aegis II has plenty of angles, which is picked up by the toothy uni-directional bezel (120 click) and the 5-link Super Engineer bracelet.  Too much focus on hard edges can undo a watch, but here we’re at just the right amount (perhaps approaching my personal limit).  It definitely gives the sense that this is not lightweight dress watch.  Along with that, I do rather appreciate that they kept the case height to under 12mm, which is a nice, slim readout for a 200m dive watch, though the 219g weight reminds you about all that steel, for sure.

There are a few different variants of the Obris Morgan Aegis II, with changes in case finish and dial color (including a black MOP version).  Regardless of your particular preference, the Miyota-powered diver will only set you back $279-$299, which is quite a nice price indeed.  If you’re on the hunt for a diver to accompany you along on your warm weather adventures, the Obris Morgan Aegis II certainly would be an amenable companion.  obrismorgan.com
