When one thinks of Pan Am, you’re put in mind of a much different type of air travel than we are accustomed to today. While the airline stopped flying back in 1991, that hasn’t kept the name from showing up in a number of places. The latest such spot is a new collaboration in the form of the Timex x Pan Am Waterbury.

And to be fair, the Timex x Pan Am Waterbury is actually two different watches: a three-hander day-date, and a tri-compax chronograph. Both feature an electric blue sunray dial (recollecting the Pan Am colors) with crisp white indices and handsets. They also both have the Pan Am logo showing up at the 6 o’clock position, as well as on the caseback, crown, and as medallions on the brown leather strap. In other words, there’s no way to miss that this is a Pan Am collaboration.

Paired to a “riveted” brown leather strap (with a bright blue lining), the Timex x Pan Am Waterbury is very definitely giving us a Flieger-style look, complete with the the triangle at 12 o’clock (though it’s not dotted) and the elongated diamond-shape handset. Also worth noting – whether you choose the chronograph or the day-date, you’re getting a 42mm case.

If you’re looking to recapture some of the lost luxury feel of flying that Pan Am represents, putting these watches on your wrist is definitely very, very affordable. When they’re available in September, the day-date comes in at $179, while the chronograph is $219, both of which come with a Pan Am lapel pin. timex.com
