TWCO-Salvage-Diver-03

There must be something in the water in the Netherlands, as there have been more than a few interesting watches – all divers – coming out of the country over the last year. The latest to come to our attention from those shores is the TWCO Salvage Diver.

TWCO-Salvage-Diver-01

The TWCO Salvage Diver is an extension of the existing diver line the brand produces, the Sea Rescue Diver. Thematically following in that path, we then come to the salvage operation. I am not aware of anything particularly relevant to a salvage operation with this watch, but it follows that after a rescue, some salvage operation may take place.

As you might imagine, the TWCO Salvage Diver is ready to head for the waves, carrying a 300m WR rating even with the exhibition caseback showing off the Miyota 9015. This is all tucked into a 43mm case (topped with a sapphire crystal) that carries a rather beefy appearance. This is, in turn, due to the larger dual crowns appearing on the right-hand side of the case.

Why dual crowns? Well, the one at 4 o’clock is your standard one, for setting the time, date, and winding the movement. The one up at 2 o’clock actually operates the bi-directional internal bezel. If you have not played with an internal bezel before, they can give a slicker look to the top of the watch. They also allow for it to be a bi-directional bezel, as you end up screwing down the crown to ensure water tightness. While this can also increase the height of the watch, here, things surprisingly top out at 14mm, not too bad for a diver.

The white on black color scheme keeps the TWCO Salvage Diver crisply readable (though not quite to ISO dive watch standards), and the Superluminova keeps things readable in the dark. The TWCO Salvage Diver comes standard with a full stainless steel bracelet (which has a ratcheting divers extension), as well as a black nylon NATO.

Frankly, there is a lot to like with the looks of the TWCO Salvage Diver, and the materials included seem well done. We’ve not experienced a TWCO watch in person, but I like what I see from the photos. If you’re the same, you can pick up your own TWCO Salvage Diver now for $864 outside of the EU (those needing to deal with VAT will pay €940). Let us know in the comments below what you think about this latest Dutch diver! twcowatches.com
