Last year, around this time, we told you about the Yema Superman Heritage 63. Here we are, a year later, and wouldn’t you know it, there’s another “heritage” Yema that was announced – the Yema Superman Skin Diver.

Now, if you read last year’s article, you’ll quickly notice that the dial design here is the same as what we saw previously. The first change they made was in the tone of the luminous paint used on the indices and handset. For that, they interpreted the “skin” part of Skin Diver quite literally, and went with a beige that they felt was, well, a skintone. The other big change here is the bracelet. While we’d had standard looks previously, for this, you’ve got a sort of hexagonal scale pattern in there, which definitely gives it a unique look. Not sure at this time if it’ll help with the flexibility of the bracelet, or if it’s more just an aesthetic thing.

In terms of how this would perform in the real world, our Yema Superman review from last year should give you a good sense. Sure, it’s a different dial design and movement, but the case is largely the same, as is their bezel-locking mechanism, so it’s close enough for the moment. And if you’re worried about fit to your wrist, do not despair – of the 1000 pieces they’re planning to make, you can get this in either a 39mm or 41mm case, so you can get the one that looks right to you.

For our money, we’re guessing that the 39mm version of the Yema Superman Skin Diver is going to move faster, as it’s a rather versatile size. Regardless, either size can be yours for $1,249, and will give you that funky vintage look with all the benefits that come from modern fit, finish, and movements. Do note that this is a pre-order, which shipping anticipated to start at the end of July. yema.com
