Not that long ago we brought you a review of a new (to us) outdoors-oriented brand, Coalatree
. They produce a variety of items that I think are perfect for camping or hiking. Well, their most recent introduction (currently in funding on Kickstarter) wants to be a cooler-weather layer for you – the Coalatree Camper Hooded Jacket 2.0.
On the surface of things, the Coalatree Camper Hooded Jacket 2.0 seems to track along with the current trend in cold-weather jackets – a puffer jacket in a slimmer profile. However, if you recall from our Coalatree pants review
this is a brand that tucks a lot more into their products. First up, there’s a lot of recycled materials that go into the jacket, so you’re helping keep things out of landfills. For the more technical aspects, I find myself really digging the hood, a multitude of pockets (can’t have enough pockets in jacket, if you ask me), and the water-resistant treatment on the jacket. Oh, and even if it does soak through, the insulation is rated to retain 93% of the warmth (as compared to when dry).
As with the pants we reviewed
, the Coalatree Camper Hooded Jacket 2.0 is able to pack into itself. This is great for two reasons. First off, if you’re traveling, it’s a way to get things compact and tucked away if you’re not wearing the jacket. For those campers among us, this also means you can quickly turn the jacket into a pillow when you get snugged up into your sleeping bag for the night. While my backpacking days are behind me, I still appreciate the ability to be able to bring less to the woods.
At this time, the Coalatree Camper Hooded Jacket 2.0 is sitting at 500% funded, with the campaign slated to end on November 6, 2018. If you’re interested (and I’m not sure why you wouldn’t be), the Coalatree Camper Hooded Jacket 2.0 has pricing that starts at $95
(though that early bird pricing runs out very soon). Delivery is anticipated for February, so that’s a decent time of year to get into a lighter, transitional jacket like this one. And of course, once the Coalatree Camper Hooded Jacket 2.0, we’ll see about getting one in for a full review. For now, jump on over to the campaign page
and check out all the details. coalatree.com
Brand & Model: Coalatree Camper Hooded Jacket 2.0
Price: starting at $95
Who we think it might be for: Just about anyone who’s looking for an affordable, well-made transitional layer
Would I buy one for myself based on what I’ve seen?: I would want more details on just how warm the insulation is, but sure, this is a great-looking jacket
If I could make one design suggestion, it would be: Something in a shade of blue, of course!
What spoke to me the most about this jacket: Pockets, hoods, slim insulation, water resistant. What’s not to like?
Thank you for reading this WristWatchReview post. With so many things competing for everyone’s attention these days, we really appreciate you giving us your time. We work hard every day to put quality content out there for our community.
WristWatchReview is one of the few remaining truly independent watch news outlets. We do not have a giant corporation behind us, and we rely heavily on our community to support us, in an age when advertisers are increasingly uninterested in sponsoring small, independent watch sites — especially a site like ours that is unwilling to pull punches in its reporting and analysis. We don't play the games the other sites play and we've paid for it when it comes to ad revenue.
We would love for you to support us on Patreon and every little bit helps. Thank you.
