The Grande Seconde Skelet-One Plasma Ceramic is Jaquet Droz’s first ceramic plasma watch. What does that mean? Plasma ceramic is basically ceramic that has been heated to 20,000?C, adding a metallic glow without adding metal to the material.

This is known in the watch industry as “something that’s really cool.”

The company wrote:

This core modification maintains all the inherent properties of ceramic. It is just as hard, lightweight and scratch-resistant as high-tech ceramic, a material that has widely stood the test of time. As always in this collection, sapphire dial with 18kt white gold hour indices, 18kt white gold hands, 18kt white gold screws and a 18kt white gold oscillating weight. Also important to mention, the folding clasp on this piece is made of stainless steel and plasma ceramic.

The entire baseplate is skeletonize and made of ceramic and it hangs inside the crystal face like some kind of steampunk spider. The entire movement is visible and it features Droz’s traditional big seconds hand.

The pieces are available now and will cost $24,000.
