When it comes to Kickstarter watches, we’ve said it time and time again – we just want to see something interesting and original. We caught wind of one such watch that is wrapping up very soon – the Echo/Neutra Averau.

Looking at the Echo/Neutra Averau, I’m rather comfortable calling this a field watch. I mean, you’ve got a fairly simple case shape and profile, combined with a crisp, legible dial. Where things deviate from the norm is that dial itself – nice, large indices that set the numerals further inboard – and the handset.

The handset of the Echo/Neutra Averau is actually a combination of a bar hand (for the minutes) and an arrow hand (for the hour). On one hand, this feels sort of like what Undone did (see here), except here it’s an actual hour hand, rather than a repurposed (and confusing) GMT hand. All of this combine creates something pleasing to the eye, and also hides how far inboard the date window is (you can thank the movement for that).

Speaking of movements, with the Echo/Neutra Averau, you’ve got your choice of movements here as well. You can pick up either a Swiss-made STP 1-11 or 3-13. We have some of the specs on those down below, but the campaign page covers a lot of what is going on between the movements. I’m also going to point you at the campaign page as well for how the brand arrived at the Averau name for the collection. This is simply because I want to get you over there to see more of these details more quickly, because this campaign is quickly coming to a close. It’s sitting at 300% funded, with the campaign closing out on May 2nd. So, like I say, if you’re thinking you’re interested in this sub-$500 beauty, make your decision quick!campaign page
