It really seems that a number of watch brands have signed deals to create watches for the recently-released Space Jam movie. We’ve covered a few so far (here and here) that were definitely on the more affordable end of the spectrum. If you prefer your movie tie-ins to be very high-end, and come in a crazy display case, then the Kross Space Jam Tourbillon is, well, your jam.

In terms of the movement inside, the Kross Space Jam Tourbillon is the same as the one we saw in the Death Star, so it’s not like you have to worry that this is an untested, unproven movement that is getting placed into the watch. With the central tourbillon cage, things work nicely, with it echoing the curves and look of a basketball. In that closeup up above, you can see that the whole tune squad is showing up there as well, reminding you what this watch is for, precisely (no King James to be seen, though, for some reason).

Those characters are all set in blue, and you’ve got the hours and minutes “hands” rotating in the gap around the edge of the tourbillon cage. Though things are a bit open-worked, this does look to be rather legible. Next to that blue band, well, you’ve got good old basketball orange, which just works. The straps that pair to the 45mm titanium case are also pebbled, mimicking the surface of a basketball.

Of course, we know that’s not nearly enough, just to have the watch designed up. Kross also likes working up unique storage/display cases, and the Kross Space Jam Tourbillon is no exception. Here, you’ve got a wooden box that looks like a basketball, that rises up to show you where the watch itself calls home. Now, yes, this looks like something a watch delivered from space would come in.

While their Batmobile remains my favorite release to-date, this Kross Space Jam Tourbillon – along with it’s elaborate case – are no doubt going to appeal to the well-heeled Loony Toons collector, whether or not they are into the latest Space Jame movie. If that’s you, well, head on over to Kross with $100,000 to see if you can snag one of the 10 of these being produced. kross-studio.ch
