How often do you switch watches? I recently got my second dream watch and now find myself changing watches at least daily – and in some cases twice a day. Is this a disease or am I normal? Help!

Scott, it is a disease and is as pernicious as VD or a case of red eye. You should immediately go out and buy a Timex from the local drug store, put it on, and don’t take it off until the rubber strap shreds into a disgusting, sweat-stinking mass of plastic by-product. At that point, you’ll probably be cured. Unless you put on a Seiko.

  1. It’s a sickness for sure. I don’t understand why I can’t stop reading and thinking about the little bastards. I just traded an older PAM 183 for a newer one, just because I wanted Geneva stripes. WHY????

  2. Gentlemen,

My husband has the same (ahem) sickness. And he can’t seem to explain the allure. He gets as far as… I don’t know… I just have to have it. When gives me this look of guilt, which he did yesterday, I know he’s done it again.

To answer your question, Scott, my husband Rob wears a different timepiece everyday. Should we have plans after work, he’ll choose something else.

My husband has collected approx. 15 swiss-made watches and has yet to tire.
He always sees something interesting. Currently, he’s into the Automatics.

It’s very much like a woman and her purses, shoes, or jewelry. So, don’t feel guilty. As long as you don’t get yourself into debt, consider yourself a collector.

  3. A Timex may not cure you they have some automatics if you can find them (although that is like finding a sneetch or indeed hunting snipe )and some of thier higher end divers (ss)are very nice .They have 450 styles! My latest aquisitions are quartz and ss and branded as equipment for bums. Who knows they may be popular with them but with the dangers inherent with riding the rails these days ,I doubt this is their true market.
