So, yesterday’s post covered a remake of an original Swiss Army knife. Today, we’ll take a look at something from a company right here in the US of A -the Maratac Pilot by CountyComm.
CountyComm is not primarily a watch manufacturer. No, they are more known for suppying a variety of goods to law enforcement and government agencies, as well as the EDC community.
And those non-watch items seem to be very well received. But what does this watch bring to the table?Immediately, you can see that it’s a pilot-inspired (aka Flieger) dial – very sterile, and very easy to read. That’s one of the main selling features, for me, of this watch. It’s not overly complicated – it’s simply a great-looking watch that will tick away the hours, minutes, and seconds for you. You’ll get the following along with that simplicity:
- Movement: Miyota 8245 (automatic, 21 jewel, non-hacking)
- Power reserve: 40 hours
- Case: 46mm stainless steel
- Lume: super luminova C3 color.
- 22 mm strap
- WR: 10 ATM
- Screw-down crown
- Glass: Domed sapphire crystal
- Price: $195
I don’t know about you, but that just seems like a great value for the money. Sure, it’s not the highest-end movement, and they’re not a watch company, but still – you’re getting a lot of bang for your buck.
At least on paper. While I can find plenty of reviews of CountyComm’s other products on the web, it doesn’t seem that a lot of people have gone for this watch. That personally doesn’t sway my interest, but you may have a different opinion.
