Earlier this year, we told you about Triwa’s foray into using one of the hot new eco-materials for watches, plastic recycled from ocean waste (you can read about that here). Well, their efforts to help clean the ocean continue with two new versions of the Triwa Ocean Plastic.
The two new colors of the Triwa Ocean Plastic are Octopus (the black tone) and Sand (the beige one); this mini-collection is known as the Arctic, inspired by the seascapes around Iceland. These all still have the same 3d-printed dial design (which looks pretty cool). Aside from just introducing new colors, it’s recommitting the brand to helping this cleanup effort:
TRIWA?s Time for Oceans collection was launched on the 14th of April 2020 and has since then helped recycle an equivalent of 10 000 PET bottles from the sea. With the new collection TRIWA?s goal is to spread awareness for a broader cleanup and recycle another 10 000 until the 14th of April 2021.

There’s no disputing it’s a noble effort, and I’ve long admired Triwa for how they’ve managed to use innovative non-metal materials for their watch cases, as well as bringing fresh (yet still classic) designs to the table.
