The Tissot PR 50 – aka the PR50 – is a workman-like watch at a pretty nice price. Based on a standard ETA movement with date window, you’re definitely not going to turn heads with a staid PR 50. However, if you want a bit of class, a bit of distinction, and a nice automatic for under $150, this is the way to go.
I call my PR50 my “lucky” watch. I wore it to a few job interviews and I aced them all, thanks to old PR50. I wore a huge Davosa chronograph beast to a job interview and I screwed up an HTML test, so I guess we know what’s up.
I’d post a few wrist shots, but what you see here is basically what you get. The package is nice and clean – big Tissot box with manual (“Pull out crown. Turn to set date. Pull out further. Turn to set time”). In terms of performance I saw a 6 minute lag over 1 month. In terms of wearability, the bracelet is very smooth and the face is extremely clean. It is, in fact, one of the few Tissots, aside from the T-Touch, I actually love.
Overall, the PR50 has a special place in my heart as it was my first “automatic” watch after an see-through auto Swatch gave me the watch bug. The back pops in and there is little to no water resistance, but it’s an excellent to the majesty of the automatic timepiece.
