Yesterday, we started to take a look at the custom straps available from Vintager Straps.  We started off with the ordering process, and some overview of what Micah has on offer.    Today, we’ll wrap up that overview, and get into reviewing the samples we were provided.

With the Pre-V buckles a lot of the straps feature, it’d be easy to dismiss the straps as just being for a Panerai – and while those would work, you can put these on anything – as my pictures show, since I don’t have  Panny in the collection.  My advice is – if you like the styling, and got the lugs to fit it, go for it.

Oh, and speaking of lugs – if you intend to use the tubes Micah provides, make sure the lugs are drilled through (or you have screw-in bars), otherwise, you’ll never get the spring bar free as the tube will be the lug width.

Ok, enough of me babbling on about what all is on tap from Vintager.  What did I think of the straps themselves?  We were sent over samples of three different ones – the MilitareMog, and Mauser.  All three of these showcase excellent stitching, sturdy leather, and Pre-V buckles.

With the Militare, you have a more refined feel to the leather.  The look of the finish is very smooth, and paired with the white stitching on our sample, it’s definitely ready for just about any watch, or occasion.  I will note that the leather, being as thick as it is, is a bit on the stiffer side – but it will likely break in nicely when worn constantly.  Micah also notes that it has good water resistance, and should not change color if it gets wet.

And, unfortunately, that’s where we’ll have to leave things for today.  Tomorrow, we’ll wrap things up by looking at my favorite of the three, and by far the coolest custom strap I’ve seen.
