Rossling New 003Rossling and Co. may not have invented the ultra-thin, minimalist Bauhaus inspired wrist watch, they may not have even been the first to put one for sale on Kickstarter, but they were the first one I saw after I started following the site, and they have certainly been successful.  Each of the first two watches, the first a quartz and the second an automatic, both garnered well over $100,000 in pledges, and the newest release from Rossling and Co., a smaller dialed version, is blowing up as well.

Rossling New 002The company was nice enough to send me the previous watches for hands on reviews (quartz here, automatic here), and the short version is that I was impressed with both.  In fact, I have one of the quartz watches sitting next to me for a future monthly give-away.  The newest release from the company harkens back to the original quartz, right up to the optional blued hands against the white dial.  Where the original had a 40mm case, the new one comes in at 36mm and a super slim 6.8 mm tall.  A perfect size for anyone with a smaller wrist or just someone who is not into the modern trend in 40mm + case sizes.

Rossling New 004The watch is offered in two versions, the white dial with blue hands or a blue sunburst dial with silver hands, both with applied indexes.  Both dials are offered in your choice of stainless of gold plated cases, with a Swiss Ronda 1609 movement and a small second hand at 6:00.  The first of the stretch goals has already been reached, so the watch will also be shipped with a domed sapphire crystal, a nice bonus at the $129 price.  There are five options for the strap as well, a black or brown leather with contrasting stitching, or a grey, green, or red tweed with leather backing.Rossling New 005The next stretch goal will increase the water resistance from 3 ATM to 5 ATM, and if the projects hits $120,000 in pledges, then an engraved caseback will be included as well.  I feel I would be remiss if I did not add the standard disclaimer for crowd funded projects, so be aware you are not buying a product, you are backing the development of a product.  But the company has two solid products under their belt, well built and attractive, so I would expect that the risks are minimal with this project.  rosslingco.com
