So, when I was going through Sinn’s catalog for yesterday’s post, I had something completely different catch my eye that I wanted to  bring up.  I figure there’s no better time for that than a lazy Sunday, right?

These hearken back to 1961 when Helmut Sinn created his first ones for the dashboard of a plane.  So,  I suppose you could throw these into your Piper Cub, or perhaps onto the dash of your kit car racer (easily removed via the bayonet joints, so you can take them in the house with you).

For me, however, I’d love to have this sitting on my desk at work, or mounted on the wall by my desk at home.  Either way, they’re stationary.  So, that makes things like a titanium case and baseplate, Ar-Dehumidifying Technology, 100 meter water resistance, and a sapphire crystal a bit of overkill.

And sure, hand-winding your desk clock may not be something you’d expect to want to do. But hey, you already do it for at least one watch, I’m guessing.  And besides, that argument is a moot point.  These suckers fall into the “if you have to ask” category of pricing.  So, while they’re a stunning bit of horology, they won’t be on my desk any time soon.

That said, if you were to add some sort of different / unique desk clock to your workspace, what would it be?  Would be it from a make like Sinn?  Something more esoteric like a tank clock?  Let me know in the comments what you think about this topic.

Oh, and if you want to read more about Sinn’s take on the situation, you can read the full pdf here.
