We last looked at the SparrowHawk II almost a year ago (review here), and at that time, I really thought that it provided great value (and style) for the money spent, as well as the rather intriguing VK63 mecha-quartz movement.

Well, that model proved very popular for Techné – they sold out of the PVD models rather quickly.  Now, they’re planning to bring the model back in March 2013, with some rather nice upgrades:

  • The crystal is now a synthetic sapphire, rather than mineral
  • The orange chrono hand is now made from an aluminum alloy, which should improve performance of the chronograph
  • The watches are ISO-certified (ie, they stand up to the spec claims Techné puts forth)

So, if you’ve wanted to get one since our last review, and missed out, now is your chance.  If you pre-order, you’ll actually get a 15% discount, which drops the price for this upgraded model to $263.50 (product page).  And for those of you who haven’t been exposed to the Techné lineup, this is a great introductory piece – you’ll definitely want to check it out.
