If you’ve been a long-time reader of the site, you’re no doubt familiar with Torgoen. They’ve long produced aviation-focused watches (which we most recently reviewed here). In the spirit of exploring new avenues, they’ve gone ahead and made a dive watch, in the form of the Torgoen T43.
Looking at the Torgoen T43, you can definitely tell that it’s a dive watch – you’ve got the 60-minute dive time bezel (with a lume pip set into a triangle) as well as a classic case shape and profile. And, when you look closer at the dial, you’ve got a 200m WR rating emblazoned there as well. So, yes, a diver for sure.
But they couldn’t just ignore their aviation roots when they designed the Torgoen T43, you know? The handset? Those are the bold style we more commonly see on a Flieger, but they actually work well here against the dark dial. You want clean, crisp, legibility, and that’s what you’ve got. Also, for the numerals at the compass points, you’ve got the “stencil style” numbers showing there, which put me in mind of a military watch – so again, keeping that aviation them sort of in place.
If you want to get your own Torgoen T43, they are quite affordable, helped by the Swiss quartz Ronda movement inside. The watch is available on a rubber strap (black or blue) with choice of bezel color (blue on the blue dial; red or black on the black dial) for $275 or you can go for the stainless steel bracelet (no blue dial, though, for some reason) for $285 – so, you know we recommend that bracelet.
