The Zoid Dual Face – A watch with multiple personalities.

There are many times that in the morning I just stare at my watches and have no idea which to use. Do I want to go bold, or do I want to go low key? Well if you’re the type that can’t make that decision easily you might like the new watch I’ve found – the Zoig Dual Face automatic can let you change your mind without changing your watch. 

The Dial

Looking at the dial of this Zoid Dual Face watch is interesting. At first glace you might wonder “Why am I seeing the automatic movement sitting next to the hands, and not under them?” Well that’s because there are two automatic movements in this watch, so the dial on each side is also the case back for each side. So on this side of the dial you will see a metallic grey sunburst face with simple lumed hour and minute hands. The only touch of color comes from the red seconds hand. Its cool to look at the time and also see an automatic movement ticking away. Its just so mechanical. The movement is a Japanese Miyota automatic with 42 hour power reserve. Covering all of this a AR coated sapphire crystal.

So if your mood changes and you feel like you need a bit more color in your life, flip it. The other side of this Zoid Dual Face is full of color and flash. Instead of a simple dial this one has a bold blue compressed carbon fiber framed in bright oranges. The hour markers number are a digital style font and look as though they are floating on top of that carbon fiber. The hour and minute hands are more of a custom look by using polished discs with short hour and minute pointers. Half of the seconds hand is painted orange which looks good sweeping over the polished hour and minute hands. The same AR coated sapphire crystal is also used to cover all of this.

The Case

This for sure is no small watch. The Zoid Dual Face measures in at 54mm x 52mm x 14mm. The case is made from 316L stainless steel. There are two pull out crowns, one on each side of the case for each movement. Water resistance is at 50 meters which is fine for a land based watch. The finish on this case is brushed but still very shiny. This is a big one,  but it will fit most wrists.

The Straps

The straps on the Zoid Dual Face are made from genuine calf leather with embossed croco pattern. They were alittle stiff at first but softened up pretty quick. They are dual colored with black and yellow with matching colored stitching on each side.

Changing Straps

The straps and how they are connected is what makes this Zoid Dual Face watch work. They’re two-sided and are connected by hinges which can rotate on the case and on the clasp. To change the color, just rotate the straps around and done. Being able to rotate the clasp allows you to easily switch the dial around. On this particular model the strap is black on one side and yellow on the other. You could be wearing black, yellow, or black and yellow if you want.

Overall Impression

I really like the concept of this watch, as you are basically getting two watches in one. Having one side of the watch being all flashy and bold, while having the more toned down side can totally fit any mood. Flipping the watch and the straps is a breeze to do. So if you are into large bold watches and are the type that likes to change things up on the go this watch is for you. This dual-sided beast goes for $1,862.99 which is about $931.49 per side.
