As we all know Timex are known for their collaborations and today I give you there two latest collaborations, the Timex x Huckberry Navi XL Automatic and the Timex X Patta. Both are designed for those who like exploring the great outdoors but while I think one is an absolute bargain, the other left me wondering “what if?”

Right let’s get into it, starting with the Timex X Patta, firstly who or what is Patta? Well, I’ll tell you. They’re a Dutch-based Streetwear brand that first collaborated with Timex back in 2019. They thought, “Well, it worked well before so let’s do it again” – and I for one am glad they did. This watch is sure to be a conversation starter; let’s talk about the dial. To stick with the outdoor adventure theme, Timex went with a deep army green dial featuring the very cool and timeless Patta logo as well as currency logos for the Korean Won, Ghanian Ced, Indian Rupee and the Nigerian Naira at the 12, 3, 6 and 9 o clock positions, along with a small date window at 3 o clock with white numerals to make it standout on the army green background.

Moving on to the case itself, it’s made of a low lead brass making it really lightweight. That is something you want for this type of watch. Along with a mineral crystal lens and a case that looks like sand-blasted titanium, you really have the perfect combination for this 40mm quartz movement. Along with Double layer Green Nylon Strap, 50 meters water resistance and Timex’s signature Indiglo you have a cracker of a watch for exploring both land and sea day or night. It goes for $139, and you can check it out here, though it appears to be sold out.

Now, let’s move on to the Timex x Huckberry Navi XL Artic 41mm. The name denotes the collaboration with Huckberry as well as paying homage our greatest ever Artic Explorers.  Now for those of you (myself included) who have never heard of Huckberry, they are basically a one-stop-shop for anything and everything to do with outdoor adventuring. Now let’s move on to why you actually came onto the site: the watch.

If you like stainless steel then you’ll be in heaven as Timex have gone to town on the Huckberry Navi XL. It features a rugged stainless-steel case and a self-adjusting stainless steel band with push button clasp, all with a nice mix of both brushed and polished finishes. Around back you have an exhibition caseback; personally I feel stainless a stainless-steel caseback would be better suited to this type of watch given the fact it is built for outdoor adventuring.

The dial itself is a very bright white featuring luminous hands and markers with a bright orange seconds hand to add a much needed splash of color to an otherwise pretty plain dial. Sure, it’s got 24-hour indices, but those feel pretty unecessary. I know there meant to add to the whole rugged feel of the watch but I don’t think they would missed if they weren’t there. Past that, you have the date window which sits at the 3 o’clock position with black numerals on a white background. On the outside you do have a really nice slate grey uni- directional bezel, customized crown and a mineral crystal lens , which at this price point I feel a scratch resistant crystal would be a very welcomed addition. Overall the Timex Navi XL Automatic is definitely a well-built solid watch with excellent lume; if it featured a sapphire crystal and a stainless steel caseback I would happily add it to my collection. This one will run you $279, and can be found right here.
