Tissot has gone back in time. They’ve returned, with a jewel from the past: The Tissot PRX. The PRX was designed at a time when Gerald Genta was making integrated bracelets a trend for brands like Philippe Patek, Vacheron, and Audemars Piguet. And now, you can own one of these Tissot, for $375.

The Tissot PRX is a stainless steel case with integrated lugs. It’s got a Swiss quartz date movement, a sapphire crystal, and a slightly domed profile bezel. And those are all nice words, but they don’t capture the very essence of the era. Think polyester shirts, aviator sunglasses, and sideburns.

Many things from that era didn’t age well… but the PRX did. It’s only gotten better. What makes it better?

The old version would probably have had a rattley bracelet, made of links from folded bits of sheet metal. It would have had a mineral glass crystal with scratches. It would have been good, but not great.

The new version has learned a few lessons, has a sapphire crystal, a solid stainless steel bracelet, and rose gold hands and markers to contrast the brushed dial and stainless case.

The case is beveled to follow the waterfall of the bracelet as it wraps your wrist. The watch is secured to your wrist with a butterfly clasp.

The movement is not an automatic. Like its ancestor, the watch contains an ETA quartz, in this case, the F06.115. The watch isn’t a diver, although it has 100M water resistance. The case back is a snap on rather than screw on type.

If you want a comfortable, 40mm diameter, 10.4mm tall watch, this one is a modern size, and isn’t going to look like everyone else’s. It’s going to be you, and it’s going to be boffo, my man, socko.
