Tusenö is issuing a limited edition of only 300 pieces, produced in benefit for the Swedish Sea Rescue Society, where part of the profit will contribute to SSRS’s important work on Swedish sea and lakes. There: I just answered your question, “how could a dive watch save my life?” That’s how. But that’s not all there is: you also get a really fantastic looking wristwatch.

Imagine if you had a dive watch with integrated bracelet, using a mid-case with a profile kind of like an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak. That would be pretty awesome. What if it were 40.5 mm in diameter, had a classic coin edge bezel, and sapphire crystal? That would be kind of epic. And what if this wonder of good taste were powered by a lovely Sellita SW 200-1? I wouldn’t know what to do with myself. It would be brilliant. Like the unfortunate mash-up consequences of a one-night stand between a Royal Oak in the 1970s and its sugar-daddy James Bond Submariner from “Dr. No.” It’s a 6538 Big Crown Sub dial, bezel, insert and crown, with that super-modern Genta-like case.

The case has an integrated bracelet right into the lugs, but most of the links are removable, so that you get maximum adjustment for your wrist. The clasp is a fold-over variety. It looks a little out of place with the rest of the classy watch, but it does stand to be very comfortable. It’s an attempt at mixing sporty and classy, vintage and modern. It’s kind of worked out, and I admit to being partial to the case shape.

And that’s what we’ve arrived at here. There are 300 of these, and the first 150 are spoken for. If you want such a nice thing, and if you want to support the Swedish Sea Rescue Society, you’re going to need to put up 50% of the total price. The total price is 9000 SEK, about 992 USD. This isn’t cheap, but saving a life never is. For every sold Blackwater they plan to donate the equivalent value of a one-year membership to the SSRS. Get your pre-order in over at www.tuseno.com.
