Today, we’re going to take a look at yet another brand I had not heard of before – Tutima.  (As an aside?  I hope I never stop discovering brands, always interesting to poke around their sites).     Now, this is no new upstart – they’ve been around since 1927, when they sprung into existence in Glashütte, Germany. While they’ve moved around over the years, they do now find themselves back in the town where they started, continuing the story.  Now – on to the watch!

Today’s watch is Tutima’s  Grand Classic Black (Ref 628-13).  What drew me to this watch was that red dial.  Normally, I wouldn’t think that would call out to me, but somehow, it doesn’t seem glaring.

Under that dial you have an ETA 2836-2 performing the timing and date keeping duties, and that also allows the watch to feature a sweeping seconds hand.

The 43.5mm case protecting the movement is made of hardened stainless steel, which is then PVD coated for additional protection; that same treatment extends to the buckle and the screw down crown.  All together, this combines to make a watch that’s rated for water resistance to 100m.

On top of that case you have a rotating bezel.  Not something you’re used to seeing with a coin-edge bezel like this, but it does explain the red mark (shown at the 12 o’clock position at the top of this post).  While I personally don’t generally care for the looks of the coin-edge bezel, here, the PVD keeps it from being a distraction.

And finally, we have a domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on the underside, and another sapphire crystal on the case back.  All of this is held on your wrist with a leather strap that features red stitching.

How much with this very A-Team watch set you back ?  That’s a little unclear, but as best as I can tell, it should be around $1,900.  Pricey, yes, but it is a striking watch.
