Vincero Watches 02

I find it interesting when alternative materials are integrated into watches in an attractive way.  That is why I am drawn to some wooden watches, and also why I was interested in the Vincero Watches project up on Kickstarter right now.  For those of you who’s interests turn more to the solid feel of stone, this project may be something you want to check out.

The pledge threshold for a watch is actually fairly low, at $299 to $349, especially considering the value being offered.  At the lower pledge level, you have your choice of watches with either a red, white or black Italian marble dial on a leather strap.  For the extra $50 with the higher pledge, there is a stainless bracelet with stone links to match the dial.  The stone is cut away at 6:00 to give an open heart look into the Miyota automatic movement ticking away behind the dial.  The watch also has a sapphire crystal and exhibition casenback (not sure if that is sapphire as well) and is water resistant to 10 ATM.  The case is 43mm in diameter and 11.5mm tall, so while not overly slim, it should function well as a dress watch.

Vincero Watches is hoping to deliver their product by the holidays, but based on my experience with Kickstarter projects, I would not be shocked if they deliver a little late.  The watches are also numbered limited editions, but I could not see the batch size.  I was wondering if they were going to hit their funding threshold when I first saw the project, and a few days in they had already blown past the $40,000 goal they set.  I have not seen anything about stretch goals, but that is fairly typical when a project does do well.  When I first saw the project, it brought to mind the Lexell, another Kickstarter project I wrote up a while back.  There is a good reason for this, as the team behind this watch was also on the design and development team for the Lexell, but are now on their own with this project.  So call it a 1/2 project under their belts, which should give them a leg up on anyone putting their first watch out in the marketplace.  vincerowatches.com

Watch Overview

  • Brand & Model: Vincero Watches
  • Price: $299 – $349
  • Who we think it might be for: Anyone who likes marble.
  • Would I buy or recommend it just on the photos?:  I don’t think I would wear it much, but I do think it is attractive and would recommend it to the right person.
  • If I could make one design suggestion, it would be: I don’t know that it really needs the open heart in the dial.
  • What spoke to me the most about this watch:  Unique materials.  Marble is not a material you find in a lot of watches.
