Welcome to our regular Sunday feature, Watch Video Rewind, where we post watch related videos from the web to highlight interesting watches or interesting aspects of watch making. Today, due to stumbling across the first video, I went with a whole theme of videos that explore fake Rolex watches.
Why fake Rolexes? Well, given their position in the market (everyone knows about Rolex, even if they are not in to watches) and how little their watches change over the years, they are a popular target for counterfeiters. Our first video compares a fake and authentic Rolex Datejust II.
Next up, we have a video that shows you the guts of a $10 flea market Rolex Day-Date. This really illustrates two things – if it’s too good to be true, it is, and that when you find something like this, do not be afraid to open it up and modify it a bit.
Next up, we have a fake Rolex Submariner. Unlike the previous video, this one is no longer running, which really would give you carte blanche to open things up and take it all apart – satisfy that curiosity about how they come together!
Last, but not least, we have another real vs. fake comparison, this time for a Rolex Sea Dweller. This one does not get into the guts of the watches, but is a handy comparison, especially if you were looking to pick one of these up.
